DOWNTOWN

I WAS WEARING:
ROMPER | NBD
HEELS | DVF
WRISTLET | Marc by Marc Jacobs

At last. The gorgeous romper I have been keeping all to myself is making its debut! Ugh, it is so incredibly amazing- side boob and all. The lace trim and the way it is cut out from the back took my love for it to a deeper level, as dramatic as it sounds. I had thought about pairing it with my Mini Mac from Rebecca Minkoff, but I think this wristlet is the perfect example of what to take to a night out. What do you think? And don't even get me started on the color. This is one article of clothing that will be in my wardrobe for a very long time.

CAPE

Sunday, February 15, 2015

I WAS WEARING:
DRESS | Nasty Gal
CLUTCH | *Courtesy of MMS Design Studio
BOOTS | Nordstrom (old)

I have had this dress for what seems an eternity, until I finally decided to use it on a day out. I was heading to a date, and it turned heads wherever I went. I have to be honest- capes didn't really grab my attention until I saw it on the runways about two seasons ago, especially because of my height, but Nasty Gal changed my mind. I love the way a simple cut out feature can make such a statement! What do you think? Are you a fan or not? And what about this electric cobalt purse? It is such a beautiful colorblock contrast that I couldn't not include it with my ensemble!
In other news, have you been watching any of the NYFW shows? Have you seen any chic new trends or designer collections that you've fallen in love with? Personally, I just swooned over Mara Hoffman! I mean, that total bohemian vibe sealed the deal for me.
Let me know what you think by commenting below or on my Instagram @esmirnatapia!
Happy Sunday/new week, babes!

V-DAY INSPIRED

Thursday, February 05, 2015

I WAS WEARING:
JACKET | H&M
DRESS | 10DollarMall.com
SHOES | Converse

Super short post tonight, as we are preparing our home for our first (technically) visitors- my mother in law and Alex's aunt. This is inspired by Valentines's Day (as if you didn't guess by the title), so it would be great if you're going somewhere really casual, like the movies or a picnic by the lake. Switch it up for some heels for a chic dinner date and slick your hair back into a low pony with a clutch and done! Perfect in a snap! What did you think of this look?
What are you up to for Valentine's Day weekend?! Any plans yet??

TOP | H&M
SKIRT | Forever 21
HEELS | Aldo
PURSE | thrifted

I am still getting situated at my new home, but with it comes a new feeling of empowerment (as strange as it sounds). Let me explain why. Ever since Alex and I met, we had always known that we would be living in San Diego together eventually, but we were unsure of when exactly when we first moved to Arizona. Now that we are here, it finally opens up more time for planning and executing blog posts, with time and little pressure. I feel like pushing myself more than I already was, because now there are little boundaries (like sunlight, for example- seen here) and I feel like I can take on more than I've ever been used to. Here's to more successful blogging and meeting new, creative people! If you're from San Diego and would love to shoot, please email me at platformsforbreakfast@gmail.com or Instagram me @esmirnatapia. I can't wait to collab with other like-souls just like myself!

There are many changes coming to this blog, beginning with how often I post and what kind of outfits I put together. I know no one has my style necessarily (obvs!), but idk, I want to try a bit of a different approach to things. I have a few exciting projects coming up that I can't wait to show you guys, so watch out for that!
So, what do you guys think of this coat? As uber amazing as I think it is, I feel that it is a bit too big for me, so I might be getting rid of it soon :( #shortgirlproblems...Follow me on Instagram @esmirnatapia so you make sure you don't miss out on any other pieces I will be getting rid of!
Happy (almost) Friday!

THROWBACK

Monday, January 26, 2015

Photos by Alex Salcedo
I WAS WEARING:
DRESS | Topshop
SHOES | Forever 21
BAG | Rebecca Minkoff
SUNGLASSES | Wildfox Couture

Let me just say that when I saw this Rebecca Minkoff bag, I almost screamed. Scratch that. I kind of screamed. It is such a reminder of the little backpacks I owned from the early 2000s, don't you think? Though I am not sure where else besides NYFW I'd wear this outfit, it's always nice to frolick around the city pretending the streets are some sort of runway. Sort of crazy, right?
Anyway, my home is more than halfway unpacked; I can't wait to show you guys around! I feel so weird finally living in the same city as Alex again; it's been 8 months! Whoa.

CALEXICO

If you know me, you know that most of the time on this blog has taken place in Calexico, California, a small place on such a large map that hardly anyone knows about. Calexico is a border town, connecting with the Mexican city of Mexicali just minutes away. This is where my father's side of the family partly grew up (Mexicali), so I have family on both sides. And this is where I would sneak off to in the early part of my twenties, especially after I met Alex at the only Starbucks around. Every Friday came and I'd take off, away from the hustle and bustle of the city that is San Diego, leaving people wondering why I'd leave such an "awesome" place to come to the scorching desert. I partly grew up here, and it's always nice coming back. A place where dreams have literally come to life...

Alright guys, so as you might have remembered, so much is going on (still!), both in my personal and work life that I have barely had enough time to catch up on my latest shows. I have so many new ideas for the blog, so I can't wait to pick up speed again! So here's a quick post to celebrate that we are finally all moved into our new place in San Diego and that it's the weekend! The chic sheath jacket was gifted to me from the babes at Missguided- did you like how I styled it?!
