The heat wave in Southern California has gotten intense; a bit too intense for my liking (continuing my warm weather rant from last post...). When Nasty Gal reached out and offered me to choose between a few dresses to show off on my blog, at first I couldn't decide which I loved most; do I go for the long sleeve black and hot pink number or the high neck skater dress? Clearly, I think you can tell which one blew my mind. Yup, this floral dress had that extra kick every gal needs for days at the beach and nights at the nearest burger joint with friends. You know I'm a platforms girl all the way, but with a piece like this, I think I'd take it up a notch and style it with a black moto jacket and some mules! Or grab a thrifted denim jacket (like mine) and pair it with some white flatforms (and a nude lip!) for that effortless girly look! I love that it is very lightweight and you don't have to wear a bra with it (always a winner in my book)!

I have had this dress for what seems an eternity, until I finally decided to use it on a day out. I was heading to a date, and it turned heads wherever I went. I have to be honest- capes didn't really grab my attention until I saw it on the runways about two seasons ago, especially because of my height, but Nasty Gal changed my mind. I love the way a simple cut out feature can make such a statement! What do you think? Are you a fan or not? And what about this electric cobalt purse? It is such a beautiful colorblock contrast that I couldn't not include it with my ensemble! 

In other news, have you been watching any of the NYFW shows? Have you seen any chic new trends or designer collections that you've fallen in love with? Personally, I just swooned over Mara Hoffman! I mean, that total bohemian vibe sealed the deal for me.

Whether you're hitting up your extended family's place for a reunion, or simply having a nice get together with your co-workers for the holidays, Alex and I came up with a few looks that will surely get you the "best dressed couple" award this season. This month has been and is still eventful for other reasons other than Christmas; Alex just graduated from his university, his birthday is also the 30th, and of course, there's the NYE celebrations. STUBBORN

You might have seen me wear this lovely pink dress this past weekend when we attended a friend's wedding in Mexicali. It was a bit on the long side, which I should have expected because I am only 5'2 (or so my co-workers say), but you should know by now that I'm a total sucker for all things bright. The unique fold-over design on the front is what first caught my attention; turn around and the open back slit captured my heart (so corny). Can't get enough.

I have to get back to tidying up the place because Alex gets here tomorrow- 26 hours!

Alomejor me vieron usar este vestido el Sábado pasado cuando lo use para la boda de unos amigos en Mexicali si me siguen en mi Instagram (@esmirnatapia). Era un poco mas largo de lo que espere, pero claro, me lo hubiera esperado antes, como soy de estatura tan petite. Pero como ya deben de saber, nunca puedo decir que no a prendas llenas de colores vibrantes, como este rosa precioso. El diseño de enfrente se me hizo precioso, y lo de atras ni se diga. Quede enamoradisima.

Ahora regreso a limpiar porque mañana llega Alex- 26 horas exactas!

Being the girl that I am (duh), I feel that I can never have too many shoes. Some of my favorite pairs have always been from Nasty Gal, and despite the price, they are the splurges of a lifetime. They are fun, quirky, have a variety of brands on their site including their very own Nasty Gal Collection Shoe Cult brand, Jeffrey Campbell, and UNIF. And what kind of post would this be if I did not include platforms?! Whether you use them to give you a boost of height (like me) or just think they're pretty to look at, have your pick! PERF! TOUGH ENOUGH

Most of the time I like to put together outfits that tell the same story- either I'm feeling sweet one day, or like a tough gal the next. I spotted these Topshop trousers online while shopping through Nordstrom.com, and though I didn't know exactly which way to style it, but I bought it anyway. It is one of those staple pieces that you can build an array of outfits with- anything from crop tops, mesh sweaters, to a very casual white tee and heels. A classic.

LIGHT MY FUSE

The first time I laid eyes on this Nasty Gal Fuse Shag Jacket from their Fall 2012 collection, I knew it was designed for me. Anyone that has known me since high school knows I was the girl to stand out, wearing bright colors and mixing pieces of clothing together that other girls would not. After deciding it was much too expensive for me, I decided to forget about it, cried a little on the inside, and moved on (SO dramatic right?). A few months later, it went on sale. SALE. A word we all love! I couldn't resist, and when it finally arrived, I proudly hung it at the front of my clothing rack. It's not yet cold enough to wear it (plus, everyone will think I look like Big Bird from Sesame Street), but it's me. I like to get people talkin'.

DREAMING OF THIS FALL WISH LIST

We are starting to finally feel some fresh air around the west coast, and with a new season comes a new set of things I am dying to see in my wardrobe. No matter what your budget is, there is something for everyone (I just happen to like uber-expensive things sometimes even though I cannot afford them ha!). Take a look at my list and see if you can find something you'd like for yourself!

TWO PETITES ARE BETTER THAN ONE

I began this blog for many reasons, but I never thought of it as solely a place to make friends. When I came across Avi's blog Petite Fashion Monster, it really intrigued me because she is from a town where I have family and go all the time. It was a bigger plus that she is petite like I am! She's super sweet and I am glad I know her now. Here is our first of many more collaborations together! 

AFTERNOON ESCAPE

I have wanted this Nasty Gal dress ever since I first saw it, and when it went on sale, I immediately knew it would be in my possession soon! There is something so girly about it that I obviously cannot ever pass up when it comes to purchasing clothing. The fact that I am also on the shorter side and the dress sits right above my knees completely reassured me that I made the right choice. 

METALLIC WEEKEND

I am in love with the fact that I am the type of person who absolutely cannot walk out the door without looking the slightest bit unpresentable; I have my mother to thank for that. Such was the case a few weeks ago when I decided to pair this rad metallic skirt with a pair of clear sandals (heels?) and chose to walk through a golf course on a whim because it was on the side of the road...
