As with my last post, here (coincidentally) is another outfit post featuring a high-slit shirtdress, which have lately become one of my faves. I had a few ideas in mind as to how I would wear this piece, but I opted for a look that was both chic and functional, with low strappy heels and a pair of cut up black jeans. Play with it for a casual or more formal look- whichever you choose, make sure you add a pair of aviators and clutch for both day or nighttime use.

It has been a while since I've posted, and here we go again trying to apologize. In reality, so much has gone on that I haven't even had time to do much of anything! First things first, I got a new job, so this transition is something huge in my life! This month is already booking up fast, from visits to Calexico, having my mother-in-law come over, heading up to LA to see the blogger boys this weekend, and having my first round of business trips (sounds so classy!). I got home today and took what seemed an unintentional nap (if you know me, you know that I cannot fall asleep at anytime during the day, so this is crazy), and am kind of falling asleep as I am writing this. I'll leave you with this outfit-I have long been a fan of shirt dresses, and Forever 21 has been stepping up their game in every aspect so much recently, I can't get enough! The fit was a bit weird, so naturally I had to get it tailored. Pair any of these shirts over, semi-tucked in, or however you want with a pair of shorts or even skinnies for a different take on this "new" trend.

A LITTLE BIT LIKE CARRIE BRADSHAW

When it comes to feeling like a princess, the babes over at Shabby Apple know just how to treat a girl. Their whimsical array of clothing, swimwear, and even a wedding collection, you will find something for any occasion! I opted for this gorgeous tulle skirt, but skeptical at first since I'm so petite. Low and behold they thought of me (well, all of us shorter gals!) and quickly went for their smallest size available, which is a 0P. I started to plan on how I was going to rock it, but I couldn't wait until it was finally in my hands! 

As soon as I received the package (fast delivery, BTW!), I ripped out the packaging and immediately pranced around the house with this amazing piece! If you haven't guessed it already, it really does feel like a Carrie Bradshaw moment in the intro for Sex and the City. I ran to my closet and started throwing on anything from crop tops to sweaters and my highest platforms. After much deliberation, I went for this polka dot cutout top that I had even forgotten about. I waved up my hair, grabbed my husband and camera, got in the car, and drove up the street, where I got out like I was the only person on the planet and ran from one side of the sidewalk to the other while cars passed by and just stared. I'd say my grand moment of feeling like a fairy tale character couldn't have turned out to be better than this.

How was your 4th? Mine was pretty eventful, from waking up late, to driving up to La Jolla, and frolicking around the cove waiting for the fireworks with the fam. I couldn't think of a better way to spend the long weekend.
